After a fun day exploring amusement park rides and attractions, sometimes the best way to relax is to play a low stakes game of mini-putt golf with friends and family. At Santa’s Village, we have our very own mini-putt golf course in our Sportsland area. Whether you are looking for a nice way to unwind or you’re just a lover of golf in all its forms, you’ll find that our 18-hole mini-putt course is a great way to spend the rest of your day.
One of the best things about mini-golf is that the courses are often outrageous, hilarious, and sometimes downright strange. This whimsical approach is one of the biggest reasons why kids love to play mini-golf, because for a few holes they can pretend that they are a pirate, or exploring a jungle in Africa, or on an island with an active volcano. Our mini-putt course at Sportsland has several creatively designed tracks that entertain and amuse all those who play. Here are ten more great mini-putt themed courses around the world.
Around the World in 18 Holes – New York, USA
This mini-golf course in Lake George, New York is loads of fun for the whole family. It was created with an international theme, so as you progress through the course, you and your family will be able to travel from countries in Europe and Asia. Each hole has its own design and decorations inspired from a foreign and exotic locale, so you can feel like you’ve gone around the world without ever taking out your passport. The course also includes many holes that are American-themed, such as one that features the legendary lumberjack, Paul Bunyan.
Pirate Island Golf – New Jersey, USA
There are three Pirate Island Golf locations in New Jersey. When you play mini-golf at one of these courses, you may feel as if you were walking through the classic book Treasure Island as they are decorated with pirate ships, suspension bridges, water hazards, and other great pirate-related details. The courses also feature lifelike depictions of pirates, tropical waterfalls, and caves full of treasure.
Lexington Ice Center – Kentucky, USA
Lexington Ice Center is world famous for being one of the few Bible-themed mini-putt courses in the world. When you play at Lexington Ice Center, you’ll be able to choose between three courses that are themed around different sections of the Bible: the Old Testament, the New Testament, and Miracles. Some of the golf centre’s best holes include Mount Sinai, Jonah and the Whale, and the River of Blood.
Par-King – Illinois, USA
Located in Lincolnshire, Illinois, this mini-putt course has become famous for its creative, outrageous, and beautifully designed holes. Though there isn’t really one unifying theme to the entire course, you’ll find lots of interesting themes at every hole including a roulette wheel, rollercoaster, the Sears Tower, the Statue of Liberty, and a robotic clown. Depending on which of the two courses you choose, you may also experience the holes that feature armoured knights, turtles, and a replica of Mount Rushmore. What really sets this course apart from others is the fact that each hole was really carefully designed and hand painted.
Dino Park – Phuket, Thailand
One of the most interesting and fun courses in the world can be found on the beautiful island paradise of Phuket, Thailand. This course features amazing life-sized models of dinosaurs, as well as prehistoric swamps, volcanos, and a 40-foot waterfall. The course uses special lighting and sound effects to help kids and adults have an unforgettable experience as they play golf next to robotic T-Rexes and other outrageous obstacles.
Mayday Golf – South Carolina, USA
Imagine you were riding a private plane over the Pacific Ocean when it crashed on a deserted tropical island. With no food, water, or hope of rescue, you and your family decide to play golf to pass the time. Though this may not sound like a very realistic scenario, it makes for a fantastic theme for a mini-putt course. As you move through the course, you’ll encounter both tropical-themed and aviation-themed holes. Your kids will love all the goofy designs and decorations, such as the enormous yellow airplane held above the course, as well as the caves, waterfalls, and the rescue helicopter waiting for you at the last hole. It seems that rescue wasn’t hopeless after all!
Ahlgrim’s Acres – Illinois, USA
This is perhaps one of the strangest and most disturbing mini-putt courses in the world. Located in the basement of a funeral home in Illinois, this lively course is themed around cemeteries and death, with holes that feature gravestones, mausoleums, and even a miniature guillotine. If you’re not sure you’d want to pay to play a course like this, don’t worry—they give you a free round of golf when you buy a funeral package!
Parque Santiago – Spain
If you’re looking for a beautifully decorated and creatively designed course, you might love the Parque Santiago mini-golf course in Spain. The course is desert-themed and features real cactuses and life-sized replicas of desert reptiles. When you play a round of golf, you’ll also notice the bright, rainbow-colored design scheme that makes the course extremely beautiful to look at. Remember to check out the pools and streams of water, as these feature colourful mosaics.
Caddyshack City – New Zealand
Though maybe not as exciting as pirates or dinosaurs to some, the Caddyshack City mini-putt course was designed with a fun city theme that’s a joy to explore. It features miniature buildings and vehicles and as you play the course, you’ll encounter an airport, school, theme park, church, and even a space centre that looks more than a little like Cape Canaveral.
KISS Mini Monster Golf – Nevada, USA
Though the funeral home course may be disturbing to some avid golfers, others may find this course much, much stranger. The KISS themed course in Las Vegas is an indoor, glow-in-the-dark course that features bewildering obstacles and decorative elements. Though many of the holes are decorated in an abstract rock and roll theme, one of the course’s most notable holes requires you to hit the ball down Gene Simmon’s unnaturally long tongue. If you’re a KISS fan, you’ll love it. If you’re not—well, there are plenty of other great courses to try!
